Ingredients

2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced

3 tablespoons sugar

1 tablespoon lemon juice

1/2 cup heavy whipping cream

1/4 cup powdered sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 store-bought pound cake or homemade sponge cake, cut into 1-inch cubes

1 cup vanilla yogurt (optional for added creaminess)

Fresh mint leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Prepare the Strawberries: In a medium bowl, combine the sliced strawberries, sugar, and lemon juice. Toss gently to coat, then set aside for about 15-20 minutes to allow the strawberries to macerate and release their juices.

Whip the Cream: In a clean mixing bowl, pour in the heavy whipping cream. Using an electric mixer, whip the cream until it begins to thicken. Gradually add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract, continuing to whip until stiff peaks form. Be careful not to over-whip.

Assemble the Trifles: In your serving glasses or a large trifle bowl, start by layering a third of the pound cake cubes at the bottom. Spoon a layer of the macerated strawberries over the cake cubes, followed by a layer of whipped cream. If using yogurt, you can also add a layer of yogurt to enhance the creaminess.

Repeat Layers: Continue layering in the same order: cake, strawberries, whipped cream, and yogurt (if using). Repeat until you reach the top of the glasses or bowl, finishing with a dollop of whipped cream and a few sliced strawberries on top.

Garnish: If desired, garnish each trifle with fresh mint leaves for a pop of color and an aromatic touch.

Chill and Serve: Refrigerate the assembled trifles for at least 30 minutes before serving to let the flavors meld together. Serve chilled and enjoy!
