Mini Green Chili Corn Dogs

1 cup cornmeal

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1 tablespoon sugar

1 cup buttermilk

1 large egg

1 cup finely chopped green chilies (mild or hot, based on preference)

12 mini hot dogs (or cocktail franks)

Oil for frying

Prepare the Batter: In a large bowl, combine the cornmeal, flour, baking powder, salt, black pepper, and sugar. Mix well until all dry ingredients are incorporated.
