Ingredients

1 loaf of French bread (or a baguette)

1 lb ground beef (or a mix of beef and pork)

1/2 cup breadcrumbs

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1/4 cup finely chopped onion

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 large egg

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 tsp black pepper

1 tsp smoked paprika

1 cup BBQ sauce (store-bought or homemade)

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Prepare the Bread Cups: Slice the French bread into 1-inch thick slices. Using a round cookie cutter or a glass, cut out the centers of each slice to create a cup shape. Place the bread cups on a baking sheet and set aside.

Make the Meatballs: In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, chopped onion, minced garlic, egg, salt, black pepper, and smoked paprika. Mix until all ingredients are well combined.

Shape the Meatballs: Roll the meat mixture into small meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter.

Cook the Meatballs: In a skillet over medium heat, add a little oil and brown the meatballs on all sides (about 5-7 minutes). You may need to do this in batches. This step adds flavor!

Add BBQ Sauce: Once the meatballs are browned, pour the BBQ sauce over them and gently toss until they are fully coated. Let them simmer in the sauce for 3-4 minutes.

Assemble the Cups: Place one BBQ meatball into each bread cup, then sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top.

Bake: Transfer the baking sheet to the preheated oven and bake for about 10-12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Garnish and Serve: Remove from the oven and let cool slightly. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley before serving. Enjoy as a tasty appetizer or a fun shareable snack!
