Ingredients

12 ounces ziti pasta

2 cups marinara sauce (store-bought or homemade)

1 cup ricotta cheese

1.5 cups shredded mozzarella cheese (divided)

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

Salt and pepper to taste

Fresh basil or parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Cook the Pasta: In a large pot of boiling salted water, cook the ziti according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Mix Cheese Filling: In a large mixing bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, half of the shredded mozzarella cheese (3/4 cup), Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.

Combine with Marinara: In another bowl, mix the cooked ziti with the marinara sauce, ensuring that the pasta is evenly coated.

Layer the Casserole: In a 9x13 inch baking dish, spread half of the ziti mixture on the bottom. Then, spread the ricotta mixture evenly over it. Finally, top with the remaining ziti mixture.

Top with Cheese: Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella cheese over the top of the ziti casserole.

Bake: Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.

Garnish and Serve: Allow to cool for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh basil or parsley if desired.
