Ingredients

12 oz ziti pasta

2 cups fresh spinach, roughly chopped

15 oz ricotta cheese

1 egg

1 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp Italian seasoning

3 cups marinara sauce (homemade or store-bought)

2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese (divided)

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Salt and pepper to taste

Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Cook the Pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the ziti pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Prepare the Ricotta Mixture: In a medium bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, chopped spinach, egg, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, and half of the salt and pepper. Mix well until combined.

Mix the Marinara Sauce: In a separate large bowl, mix the marinara sauce with half of the shredded mozzarella cheese and set aside.

Combine Ingredients: Stir the cooked ziti into the marinara sauce mixture until well coated. Then, fold in the ricotta spinach mixture until evenly distributed.

Assemble the Dish: In a 9x13 inch baking dish, spread half of the ziti mixture evenly over the bottom. Sprinkle half of the remaining mozzarella cheese and half of the Parmesan cheese on top. Layer the remaining ziti mixture, followed by the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.

Bake: Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes. Then, remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until golden and bubbly.

Garnish and Serve: Remove from the oven and let it cool for about 5 minutes. Garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired. Serve hot and enjoy!
