Ingredients

12 oz ziti pasta

2 cups marinara sauce (store-bought or homemade)

1 cup ricotta cheese

1 egg

2 cups fresh spinach, finely chopped

2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp Italian seasoning

Salt and pepper to taste

Fresh basil leaves (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Cook the Pasta: In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the ziti pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Prepare the Spinach Mixture: In a bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, chopped spinach, egg, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.

Combine Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked ziti pasta and marinara sauce. Add the spinach mixture and half of the shredded mozzarella cheese. Stir until everything is well coated.

Layer the Dish: In a 9x13 inch baking dish, spread half of the ziti mixture evenly. Sprinkle half of the grated Parmesan cheese on top. Then layer the remaining ziti mixture and finish with the rest of the mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses on top.

Bake: Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil (to prevent sticking, you can spray the foil with cooking spray). Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.

Garnish and Serve: Let the baked ziti cool for about 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh basil leaves for an extra touch of flavor.
