Ingredients

1 cup unsalted butter, melted

1 ½ cups packed light brown sugar

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

½ teaspoon baking soda

½ teaspoon salt

1 ½ cups peeled and diced apples (preferably Granny Smith)

½ cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)

¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon

½ cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easier removal.

Mix the Wet Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the melted butter and brown sugar. Whisk until the mixture is smooth and creamy, then add in the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

Combine the Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and ground cinnamon.

Combine Wet and Dry Mixtures: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; the batter should be thick.

Fold in the Apples and Nuts: Gently fold in the diced apples and chopped nuts (if using), ensuring they are evenly distributed throughout the batter.

Pour Into the Pan: Spread half of the batter into the prepared baking pan. Drizzle half of the caramel sauce over this layer, then spoon the remaining batter on top, spreading it gently. Drizzle the rest of the caramel sauce over the top.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs. Be cautious not to overbake.

Cool and Serve: Let the blondies cool in the pan for at least 15 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely. Cut into squares and enjoy! Optionally, serve with extra caramel sauce drizzled on top.
