Ingredients

For the dough:

4 cups all-purpose flour, plus extra for dusting

1/4 cup granulated sugar

2 1/4 teaspoons (1 packet) active dry yeast

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1 cup warm milk (about 110°F/43°C)

1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

2 large eggs

For the apple filling:

2 medium-sized apples (such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), peeled, cored, and diced

1/4 cup brown sugar

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1 tablespoon lemon juice

1 tablespoon butter, melted

For the glaze:

1 cup powdered sugar

2-3 tablespoons milk

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

Prepare the dough:

In a large mixing bowl, combine warm milk, granulated sugar, and yeast. Stir gently and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it bubbles and becomes frothy.

      Mix dry ingredients:

In another bowl, whisk together flour, salt, and ground cinnamon.

          Combine wet ingredients:

Add melted butter and eggs to the yeast mixture and mix well. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture until a dough forms.

              Knead the dough:

Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until it is smooth and elastic. Put the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

                  Prepare the apple filling:

In a medium bowl, combine diced apples, brown sugar, ground cinnamon, lemon juice, and melted butter. Stir to coat the apples evenly and set aside.

                      Shape the wreath:

After the dough has risen, punch it down to release air. Roll it out on a floured surface into a large rectangle (about 12x18 inches). Spread the apple filling evenly over the dough. Starting from one long side, roll the dough tightly into a log.

                          Create the wreath shape:

Pinch the ends of the log together to seal. Place the log on a greased baking sheet and form it into a circular wreath shape by twisting it slightly. Pinch the ends together again to seal.

                              Let it rise again:

Cover the wreath with a kitchen towel and let it rise for another 30 minutes.

                                  Preheat the oven:

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

                                      Bake:

Bake the wreath in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through. If the top browns too quickly, tent it with aluminum foil.

                                          Prepare the glaze:

While the wreath is baking, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract in a small bowl until smooth. Add more milk for a thinner consistency if desired.

                                              Glaze and serve:

Once the wreath is done baking, remove it from the oven and let it cool for about 10 minutes. Drizzle the glaze over the warm wreath and allow it to set slightly before serving.

Enjoy your Apple Cinnamon Bread Wreath warm, perhaps with a cup of tea or coffee!
